- The Original STAR ALLIANCE™ was incorporated as a public-benefit organization in 1985. We have done long and careful work preparing a value system of common-sense, moral and ethical principles and ideals for healthy, positive, peaceful, loving, sustainable relationships at every level of society. Because our declared values are rooted in natural laws tending to produce such universally desirable results, almost all of the fundamental values we declare — and offer for public education and inspiration everywhere — are already shared throughout the great historical traditions of Earth. However, STAR ALLIANCE values are expressed in a civic, inter-culturally compatible way. This important distinction makes them suitable for sharing, with the support of these traditions and governments, too, in primary and secondary education, rehabilitation, and promotional programs. Thus, in theory, we can reach virtually everyone in the United States and throughout our one, irreplaceable, precious Planet Earth. The sooner this is accomplished, the sooner humanity will come together more safely, quickly, and efficiently for lasting peace and harmony. This is why we aspire to — and seek funding and strong, credible partners and governmental participation — to achieve Cooperative Universal Education for Our Highest Civic Ideals.
- Our STAR CITIZEN Declarations, Pledges, and support materials serve as instruments of individual and group learning, reflection, inspiration, and commitment: not only to human rights, but to duties of sustainable relationships, genuine peace and love right here on Earth. They are intended for students, adults, professionals, leaders, and populations everywhere.
- It's • Everybody's Global Victory Campaign for World Peace!™ • Literally everyone, unfortunately, is living in real and present danger from potential Nuclear Winter and, in one way or another, from Climate Change, Cyber Mischief, and a host of other perils. Fortunately, everyone will rather quickly benefit from a healthier and more sustainable social atmosphere, and this is what our STAR ALLIANCE values, widely shared, will quickly help create — with continuing effects, year after year. This is because values, once instilled and often reminded and refreshed, influence all other human behaviors.
- Human Rights & Responsibilities. The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights [UDHR], which you can access here, is one of the greatest, most laudable achievements of all human history. But that noble document details the responsibilities of signatory nations to their citizens, not primarily the responsibilities of individual citizens to themselves and each other. Many nations struggle to fulfill all of their responsibilities to citizens — while many individual citizens, businesses, and other institutions frequently act without regard to holistic ethics, leaving enormous collective pain, suffering, and economic deprivation in their wake.
- Filling the "values gap." Imagine if everyone, by graduation from high school, could have studied a systematic presentation of ethical principles needed for consistently fair, kind, and ethical behaviors — and learned to take more serious and effective responsibility for their own actions. Everyone would be helping create more ongoing health and happiness for themselves and others in their college and adult lives; their families, schools, communities, regions, nations, and the whole world, shared by all.
- Everyone can be a STAR🌟CITIZEN™. Everyone on Earth is invited to become a STAR CITIZEN. This will be accomplished by learning, committing, and practicing all the declared Highest Civic Ideals™ to best abilities. 🌟 STAR 🌟 CITIZENS 🌟 are they who shine in their communities, by doing their best to learn and apply these noble values in best balance and proportion to each unique, practical situation. We have labored long to identify these "natural laws" for peaceful, constructive, flexible, fair, and sustainable behavior, and to state them eloquently, completely, and responsibly. Our declarative documents are layered by length and nuance of content and expression. They are offered to the public everywhere starting with this website. • Of course it's going to take a great cooperative effort to make them equally available to everyone.
- Everyone needs values education and guidance. Think about it. Values are principles, ideals, and goals that, most simply, people hold valuable! Once internalized, values continue to influence individual and group behaviors over a lifetime. The more the "STAR ALLIANCE" declared principles of holistic good will and integrity are shared, adopted, and practiced at every level of organized society — the safer, better off, and happier we will all be! By trying our best to follow all these Highest Civic Ideals, we can achieve more harmonious "Unity in Diversity" everywhere. Due to daily ripple effects on social and even physical environments, improvements can be realized with greater speed, consistency, and longevity this way. With our carefully-constructed educational and inspirational materials, much can be accomplished in a cross-cultural way, supported by governments, businesses, varying religious communities, and the public.
- No matter who we are, life can be challenging. It's the ongoing Challenge of Peace! Yet everyone can help facilitate and accelerate social evolution. Our knowledge, commitments, attitudes, speech, and actions — or lack of them — all make a difference. Even when choices are sharply limited by forces and circumstances beyond individual control, it still matters how we engage and interact with others on a daily basis. When values are expressed in such a way that they can be shared across a wide range of cultural differences — and promoted with the power and reach of public education and government programs — this is going to make a great positive difference for peace at every level.
- Please do your part in this unprecedented, potentially wonderful global initiative. Together let's "own" and share "Our Highest Civic Ideals." Let's study, review, critique and improve their expression as necessary. Then let's hold them increasingly in mind and heart, and let this commitment spread to the whole human race. We can do this by internalizing, discussing, and practicing the ideals and principles with families, schools, teachers and classmates, friends and neighbors — through informal, educational, governmental, social, and promotional channels. Everyone should have the chance to participate. In the Electronic Age, with sufficient commitment and cooperation from established groups and institutions, such a campaign is now possible. Collectively, we are duty bound to try. - This can be a turning point in all of human history — IF enough people start pulling together and sharing these vital principles in time. Make no mistake, we are in a race with time. It's today's human race. Fortunately, with agreement on these broad civic principles as a first step, many other good projects will manifest better, and collective benefits will accrue much faster, at lower costs and with much less unnecessary tragic waste!
- Imagine the impact, for example, when the original STAR ALLIANCE is empowered to organize a series of Global Electronic Town Meetings: successfully to help end the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and help stimulate and accelerate the movement for representative Global Democracy in the process.
- This is an interim website! We are in process of catching up and updating many of our functions and support materials, including modernizing digital infrastructure. Volunteers and donors who realize the critical importance of this project to our collective welfare can help accelerate this process! - The Mount Everest Peace Flag. In 1999, the late, great mountain climber Babu Chiri Sherpa 🌟 of Nepal (pictured above, behind his crampons, parka, and goggles; and in the photo gallery) carried a hand-sewn flag to the summit, step-by-step, as a gift to inspire world peace. Amazingly, he had already planned to stay overnight on this particular ascent, and he did so successfully: 21 hours without bottled oxygen, an unprecedented feat! Many thanks to Babu's family, countrymen and women, and his surviving travel-business partner from Nomad Expeditions: Mr. Lhawang Dhondup 🌟 of Berkeley, California!
- Words of Wisdom. When Babu kindly returned the flag to Berkeley that summer, we asked him for some words of wisdom to share with the global public. He was silent for a while, then stated quietly: I think everyone is climbing their own Mount Everest. It's true, all of us in different ways. For this reason, we all need one another's good will, help, and human solidarity: to be friends for all our "STAR ALLIANCE" of Highest Civic Ideals!
- A wonderful pair of symbols: The Human Hand & the STAR ALLIANCE logo: The Arc of Rainbow Stars™ Our logo mimics the open human hand. Try comparing the logo with your open hand 🖐️🖐🏻🖐🏼🖐🏽🖐🏾🖐🏿. If you didn't notice at first, you will soon see the similarity. The fingers can be seen and thought of to represent individuality, diversity, and freedom. Within each hand and pair belonging to a single owner: They never fight! Instead, they all cooperate reliably throughout a lifetime. Their "higher power" is not far away: right up there in the brain and mind of each person. So reliable, lasting peace IS possible!
- Nature is showing us a universal example — a "Unity in Diversity of Successful Community" that is intimately personal to everyone. There it is! Once we realize this, our own hands can remind us of individuality — deeply connected — with limited, responsible freedoms — leading to sustainability! Team Work Makes the Dream Work!™
- With this universal yet personal example, again: We can see that lasting peace IS possible. It CAN be an everyday, living reality. It's just necessary that people realize that similar connections — often invisible — exist among all of us to varying degrees. But they ARE there, at different levels, if we look and feel deeply. These connections can be consciously utilized and strengthened. It's a matter of education, respect, good will, appreciation, honesty, and regular communication. All these generate greater understanding. And with this, we can practice and experience smoother, more sensible and effective cooperation. Reciprocity, mutuality, appreciation, and practice of The Golden Rule are all big factors. The big payoff is that everybody can and will benefit from a better social atmosphere by practicing these principles together, with best attention to balance and proportion in all things. Since we are all compelled to breathe from the same shared air and social atmospheres— why not do everything we can to improve them, especially when they've been polluted! We will all do better to help clean up both forms of our "shared air" — and keep them that way.
- The STAR ALLIANCE principles for sustainable relationship operate at every level of society. If people have the opportunity to learn and practice them in a conscious way —especially early in life — then we will all be richly rewarded with better societies and a better global/universal civilization. People can also change as adults. It'll definitely be worth the commitment and the effort to try. Together we must promote and share these values across all the "isms," nationalities, races, and economic classes that separate us. There is no need to abandon all the good parts of each culture, nationality, race, belief, and class — as long as we harmonize well through the Highest Civic Ideals. Everyone will benefit in different ways.
- The Arc of Rainbow Stars™ Logo Design and Flag. The beautiful, joyous, and deeply meaningful Arc of Rainbow Stars logo was designed in a team effort, realized by graphic artist Phil 🌟 Hill in 1987. The logo was improved for the digital age by graphic specialist Richard 🌟 Nodine of Pacific Print Media, San Francisco, in the mid-1990's. Thank you, Phil and Richard!!!) The first flag ever made with a heart at the vertex was sewn in 1999, by graphic designer Ms. Barbara 🌟 "Betsy Ross" Addleman of Piedmont, California. (Thank you, Barbara!!!) Barbara's flag came just-in-time for the historic climb that year. Other early flags were sewn by Ms. Cecilia 🌟 Franklin of Sew Images in Oakland, and taken to the summit by Babu In years immediately following. (Thank you, Cecilia!!!) • The elite club of early flag makers also includes Ms. Usana 🌟 Purananunt of Thailand and the San Francisco Bay Area (since married with a name change), and Ms. Marion 🌟 Jones of Oakland, California. - Finally: Some important Words to the Wise about our famous name: Even though it has been used prominently for worldwide commercial purposes since 1997 [www.STARLLIANCE.com ] our organization still receives no income from the name WE invented for charitable purposes, starting ten years earlier in 1986 We are duly thankful for the admirable credibility lent by the global airlines alliance. But we have never yet enjoyed the proper licensing fee that we were originally due — and that we would have enjoyed, with benefits for the whole world, excepting a serious flaw in the current legal-system: Economic Discrimination Before the Law. As a result, we have endured much public confusion ourselves, ironically, for decades. It is easy for people to think that somehow our organization adopted the airlines' name, rather than the other way around. Without knowing the facts, people may naturally question: Why should I/we help an organization with such a famous name? They must be rich! NOT SO! Grassroots support is genuinely needed, and "highly" appropriate!
- Recovery will be near when public visibility rises. Everyday individuals, not to mention angel philanthropists and major institutions, can help make things right much faster for the benefit of all. Please contribute generously! Given the acute need for what we offer, regular gifts from numerous sources are all appropriate.
