- Yet while largely "free" to dance about independently, the fingers remain intelligently limited, literally tied together in a friendly way by the ligaments to their structured connections with each other & their responsibilities to the whole body & mind system. That system serves, in a sense, as their collective "higher power." In return, each finger & the whole team receive reliable support, nourishment, purpose, & direction for harmonious action, at least within their team! Their "holistic mutual good will" towards each other is so deep that people seldom if ever think about it normally. Yet automatically, the fingers will never intentionally hurt each other throughout a lifetime. 🌟 The hand, considered within itself, is thus a microcosm — & an undeniable practical example — of harmonious social relationships — positive Unity-In-Diversity! 🌟

- The original STAR ALLIANCE was incorporated as a public-benefit organization in 1985. Since then, we have prepared a proposed "Star Citizens" value system expressing common-sense, moral and ethical principles and ideals toward healthy, peace-loving, sustainable lives and relationships at every level of society. We believe these values and principles are rooted in natural laws for positive relationships. Proof of this is that most of them are already shared throughout the great time-tested historical traditions of the human race.
- STAR ALLIANCE values, however, are expressed in an inter-culturally compatible way, not specific to any one religious, national, racial, or political identity system. This important distinction makes them suitable for public education, rehabilitation, and promotional programs supported by governments and businesses, big and small. Therefore, the potential now exists to reach and better harmonize virtually everyone throughout our one, precious, irreplaceable Planet Earth. The sooner accomplished, the sooner humanity can come together safely, quickly, and efficiently for lasting peace. We aspire to strong, credible partners to achieve Cooperative Universal Education for Our Highest Civic Ideals.
- STAR CITIZEN™ Declarations, Pledges, and support materials serve as instruments of individual and group learning and review, reflection, inspiration, and commitment — not only to human rights, but to human responsibilities. These are the many duties of healthy, sustainable relationships in genuine peace and love. Indeed, the documents help define these wonderful goals that virtually all people desire for themselves, at the least. The documents are intended for all people — students, adults, professionals, leaders, and general populations everywhere, and too, for the positive institutions we build together.
- "Everybody's Global Victory Campaign for World Peace!™ " • Literally everyone is living in real and present danger from a potential nuclear accident, and at worst, a hostile nuclear exchange, which could easily and almost immediately lead to Nuclear Winter, which could kill us all. In addition, there is Climate Change. Although slower, this is already happening, and more inexorable without major changes in mass human behavior. Add to these: potentials for ongoing Cyber Mischief events and a host of other perils. We are living in perilous times! And at this time, there are unprecedented potentials for permanent mass consequences! Fortunately, everyone can also rather quickly benefit from a healthier, more sustainable social atmosphere, and this is what STAR ALLIANCE values, widely shared, will help create with sufficient speed. This strategy is not a panacea. But our values have proven themselves catalytic already from "behind the scenes" on several major occasions. (Please see the About page on this website. We predict the STAR ALLIANCE values, once deployed to significant numbers of people, will create important if not startling benefits at first, with positive effects year after year.
- Human Rights & Responsibilities. The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights [UDHR], which you can access here, is one of the greatest, most laudable achievements of all human history. But that noble document details the responsibilities of signatory nations to their citizens, not primarily the responsibilities of individual citizens to themselves and each other. Many nations struggle to fulfill their responsibilities to their citizens. And many individual citizens, including businesses and other institutions, too frequently act without sufficient regard to holistic ethics. This tendency leaves enormous collective pain, suffering, economic cost, and deprivation in its wake.
- Filling the "values gap." Imagine a time when everyone, by the time they graduate from high school, and certainly college — not to mention get out of incarceration — will have studied and discussed application of the comprehensive set of principles needed for fair, kind, and ethical social behaviors — and will have learned to take serious and effective responsibility for their own actions. Everyone would be helping create better health and happiness for themselves and others in their adult lives; in their families, schools, communities, regions, nations, and the whole world. What a difference this will make!
- STAR🌟CITIZENS. Everyone on Earth is invited to become a STAR CITIZEN™. This status is accomplished by learning, committing, and practicing — to best abilities of proper balance and proportion in practical application — all the declared Highest Civic Ideals™ . 🌟 STAR 🌟 CITIZENS 🌟 are they who shine in their communities by doing their best to learn and apply these noble values together. "Founding Philosopher" Peter Bruce DuMont has labored long to identify these "natural laws" for peaceful, fair, constructive, appropriately flexible and sustainable behaviors — and, with help from teammates, to state them eloquently and thoroughly. Our declarative documents are layered by length and nuance of content and expression. They are offered to the public everywhere starting with this website. • Of course it's going to take a great deal of cooperative effort to make them equally available to everyone.
- Youth, and people of all ages naturally need values education and continuing guidance and refreshment to deal with the complexities of life. Think about it: Values are simply principles, ideals, attitudes, and goals that people hold valuable! The more the STAR ALLIANCE Highest Civic Ideals are shared, adopted, and practiced at every level of organized society — the safer, better off, and happier we will all be! The declared ideals are timeless, and by trying our best to follow them in good applied balance and proportion to each practical situation with each other, we can achieve more harmonious "Unity in Diversity" everywhere. Due to the daily ripple effects each citizen creates in our social and physical environments, improvements can be realized with great social magnitude and speed this way. Our experience has been that when a citizen first reads our documents, they often experience a sudden, welcome sense of hope, potential participation, and "ownership" of society's future. With wider exposure of our carefully-constructed educational and inspirational materials, many improvements can be accomplished at low cost and relative speed with ongoing benefits.
- No matter who we are, life can be challenging. It's the ongoing Challenge of Peace! Our knowledge, commitments, attitudes, speech, and actions — or lack of them — all make a difference. Even when choices are sharply limited, by forces and circumstances beyond our individual control, it still matters how we engage and interact with others on a daily basis. When values are expressed in such a way that they can be shared across a wide range of cultural differences, helping to create a global and even "cosmic" identity for the human race, it's going to be a great, harmonizing leap forward for all.
- Please do your part in this wonderful, unprecedented global initiative. Together let's "own" and share "Our Highest Civic Ideals." Let's study, review, critique and improve their expression as necessary. Let's hold them increasingly in mind and heart, and together, let's help this commitment spread to the whole human race. We can do this by internalizing, discussing, and practicing the ideals and principles with families, schools, teachers and classmates, friends and neighbors — through informal, educational, governmental, social, and promotional channels. Everyone should have the chance to participate. In the Electronic Age, with sufficient commitment and cooperation from established groups and institutions, such a campaign is now possible. Collectively, we are duty bound to try. - This will be a turning point in all of human history when enough people start pulling together and sharing these vital principles in solidarity. Make no mistake about it, we are in a race with time. It's today's human race. Fortunately, with agreement on these broad civic principles as a fundamental step, many other good projects will manifest better and collective benefits will accrue much faster — at lower costs and with much less unnecessary tragic waste!
- Imagine the impact, for example, when the original STAR ALLIANCE is empowered to organize a series of Global Electronic Town Meetings: successfully to help prevent future wars and help stimulate and accelerate the movement for representative Global Democracy for All.
- This is an interim website. We are in process of catching up and updating many of our functions and support materials, including modernizing digital infrastructure. Volunteers and donors who realize the critical importance of this project to our collective welfare can help accelerate this process. - The Mount Everest Peace Flag. In 1999, the late, great mountain climber Babu Chiri Sherpa 🌟 of Nepal (pictured above behind his crampons, parka, and goggles at the summit, and unmasked in the photo gallery when he returned the flag to us in Berkeley) carried this hand-sewn flag aloft, step-by-step, as a lasting gift to inspire world peace. Amazingly, he had already planned to stay overnight on this particular ascent, and he did so successfully: 21 hours without bottled oxygen, an unprecedented feat! Many thanks to Babu (in spirit) and his family, countrymen and women, and surviving travel-business partner from the original Nomad Expeditions: Mr. Lhawang Dhondup 🌟 of Berkeley and Tibet!
- Words of Wisdom. When Babu kindly returned the flag that summer, we asked him for some words of wisdom to share with the global public. He was silent for a while, then stated quietly: I think everyone is climbing their own Mount Everest. Isn't that true for you and all people in different ways? For this reason, we all need one another's good will, help, and solidarity: to be friends for all our "STAR ALLIANCE" of declared Highest Civic Ideals!

Try comparing the logo with your open hand. 🌟🖐️🖐🏻🖐🏼🖐🏽🖐🏾🖐🏿🌟 You will soon see the similarity. The fingers can be seen and thought of to represent all of individuality, diversity, and freedom. And guess what? Within each hand and owner: They never fight! Instead, they all cooperate reliably throughout a lifetime. Their "higher power" is not far away: It's right up there in the brain and mind of each person. So: with this concrete example, we can see that under the right conditions: reliable, lasting peace IS possible!
- Nature is showing us a universal example: "Unity in Diversity in Successful Community!" This principle is intimately personal to everyone when understood in this way. There it is! Once we realize this, our own hands can remind us and others, when we share. Team Work Makes the Dream Work!™
- The STAR ALLIANCE principles for sustainable relationship, again, operate at every level of society. If people have the opportunity to learn and practice them in a conscious way —especially early in life — then we will all be richly rewarded with better societies and a better global/universal civilization. People can also change as adults. It'll definitely be worth the commitment and the effort to try. Together we must promote and share these values across all the "isms," nationalities, races, and economic classes that separate us. There is no need to abandon all the good parts of each culture, nationality, race, belief, and class, nor all our good differences — as long as we harmonize well and fairly, through balanced interpretation and application of all the Highest Civic Ideals. Just that everyone will benefit in different ways.
- The Arc of Rainbow Stars™ Logo Design and Flag. The beautiful, joyous, and deeply meaningful Arc of Rainbow Stars logo was designed in a team effort, first realized by graphic artist Phil 🌟 Hill in 1987. The logo was improved for the digital age by graphic specialist Richard 🌟 Nodine of Pacific Print Media, in San Francisco in the mid-1990's. Thank you, Phil and Richard!!!) The first flag ever made with a heart at the vertex was sewn in 1999, just-in-time for the historic climb that year, by a 🌟 Citizen of Piedmont, California (Peter DuMont's hometown) who prefers to remain anonymous. Several other early flags were created by Ms. Cecilia 🌟 Franklin of Sew Images in Oakland. They were carried to the summit by Babu In the years immediately following his initial climb, and to our knowledge, remain in Nepal. - Finally: Some important Words to the Wise about our famous name: Even though it has been used prominently for worldwide commercial purposes since 1997 [www.STARLLIANCE.com], our organization still receives no income from the name we invented for public-service purposes, starting ten years earlier, in 1986. We are duly thankful for the admirable credibility lent by the global airlines alliance. But we have never yet enjoyed the licensing fees that we were originally due — and that we could have enjoyed, with benefits for the whole world, except for a serious flaw in the current legal "contingency" system for representation that we have dubbed: Economic Discrimination Before Civil Law. As a result, we have (ironically) endured much public confusion ourselves for decades. It is easy for people to think that somehow our organization adopted the airlines' name, rather than the other way around! Without knowing the facts, people may naturally question: Why should I/we help an organization with such a famous name? They must be rich! Grassroots, corporate, and governmental support are all needed.
- Recovery from severe social turbulence will be near at hand when our public visibility and effectiveness rises. Everyone has a vital stake in lasting peace, love, and happiness on our one, precious Planet Earth. By everybody doing what they can to help popularize and align human community for shared moral-ethical values, together we can and will pull through this dangerous, turbulent historical period of global integration, in greater harmony with all our declared Highest Civic Ideals.
